Amway Launches the NUTRILITE ™ Power of 5 - A Global Campaign.

Our goal is to start a global movement focused on the issue of childhood malnutrition. This condition can have lasting impact so it's important to provide proper nutrition in the first 5 years of life to help children reach their potential. The Power of 5 brings attention to the relationship between good childhood nutrition and healthy adulthood.

3.1 million children die each year due to malnutrition. In many places in the world, a child's 5th birthday is an important milestone for survival!

NUTRILITE developed NUTRILITE Little Bits, the first and only micronutrient supplement for malnutrition enhanced with plant nutrients (ORC International). With a strong group of partners, we are putting life-changing benefits within easy reach of undernourished children.

A unique program that helps children celebrate their 5th birthday in good health, to give them a better chance of reaching their full potential.

The Little Bits story began in 2006. Workers on our NUTRILITE organic farm in Ubajara, Brazil wanted to find a solution that would help local children suffering from malnourishment. Understanding the power of the nutrient-rich native plants, the workers harvested, dried and compressed a mix that was added to the food served in neighboring schools. This small, yet profound plan put underserved children on a path toward health and hope.

The power of 5 birthdays

By age 5, most children can overcome health challenges such as disease or malnutrition, according to the US Agency on International Development. But if children under the age of 5 suffer from micronutrient deficiencies, it can increase the risk of dying or can contribute to impaired physical and mental development (see World Health Organization). Little Bits helps vulnerable children celebrate birthdays so they have a chance to turn 5 with a healthy brain and body, and a brighter future. Now that's a great gift.

The power of 5 partnerships

The Power of 5 also highlights the critical relationships that are necessary to support the nutritional, physical and emotional health of children during first 5 years of life. The first critical relationship is between mother and child. Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) play a critical role in supporting both mothers and their children. Amway and NUTRILITE have critical partnerships with NGOs like CARE who provide other key benefits to children like food and education. NUTRILITE has been an important part of the lives of distributors globally – by improving livelihoods and health. The 5th critical partnership is between you and the children benefiting from Little Bits.

The power of 5 gifts CARE

CARE is a leading international humanitarian organization working to fight global poverty. The group places special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE’s community-based efforts to:

  • Improve basic education
  • Prevent the spread of disease
  • Increase access to nutrition, clean water and sanitation
  • Expand economic opportunity
  • Protect natural resources

CARE's role with Little Bits:

  • Overall nutrition program advisor with local NGOs
  • Product procurement and distribution partner to local markets
  • Global fundraising partner
Your power of 5

The NUTRILITE ™ Power of 5 campaign calls all of us to support the nutritional health and potential of children around the world. All money raised will go to CARE and local humanitarian organizations that support the distribution of Little Bits.

Help fight global childhood malnutrition.

During the 80th anniversary of Nutrilite, join runs, walks, rides and other events happening around the world. We will collect handprints to raise awareness of global childhood malnutrition and break a world record. Amway will match donations and contribute $1 for every handprint, up to $400,000 USD, to CARE, our global distribution partner.
